What is oilcloth?
On Chalkydoodles.com we offer many products made with imported Mexican Oilcloth, a printed vinyl PVC fabric that is water resistant and wipeable. Both sides of our oilcloth fabrics are water resistant.
Mexican oilcloth is wipe-clean, very durable and does not require laundering.
What is laminated or coated cotton?
Laminated or coated cotton fabric (which is often also referred to as "oilcloth" especially outside of the U.S.) is a cotton fabric that has been coated with a clear laminant, making it wipeable and water resistant. The reverse side, or the “wrong” side, of the cotton material is not water resistant.
Laminated cotton is wipeable, supple and durable. Some laminated cotton fabrics can be laundered, but we recommend line-drying only. Please refer to the product descriptions for specific care instructions.

How do I use your chalkboard products?
You can write on our chalkboard products with chalk, just like you would a traditional chalkboard. Then, erase by wiping with a chalk eraser or damp cloth (we prefer to use a damp cloth). You can also use our wet-wipe Chalk Markers on most of our chalkboard products (with the exception of our Chalkboard Tees).
Before using a chalk pen - just make to well-season the chalkboard surfact first, to avoid leaving shadows.
Why do I need to “season” my chalkboard product?
Any new chalkboard product should be seasoned, to keep the chalk from leaving “shadows” on the new chalkboard surface. Simply use the side of a piece of chalk and rub all over the surface. Wipe well with a dry cloth or erase and repeat. Now you’re ready to Get Chalky!
Can I machine wash and/or dry Mexican oilcloth?
No; please do not machine wash, dry or iron your Mexican oilcloth products. To clean both Mexican oilcloth and chalkboard products, simply wipe with a warm, soapy sponge.
Can I machine wash and/or dry laminated cotton?
Some laminated cotton fabrics can be laundered, but we recommend line-drying only. Please refer to the product descriptions for specific care instructions.
How do I clean your chalkboard products?
Our chalkboard products can be erased using a typical chalkboard eraser and/or by wiping with a damp cloth.
How do your wet-wipe chalk markers work?
Use our wet-wipe chalk markers to write like liquid chalk and then allow to dry completely. The marker won't budge when brushed against or rubbed (unless the markings get wet). When you are ready to change your message, erase by rubbing well with a wet cloth.
How long does it take to get your products?
Because our products come from many artists in many different places, shipping times vary for each product we offer. Please refer to the "More Info" box at the bottom of each product description page for shipping timeframes for each item you would like to purchase before placing your order.

Most in-stock items ship in 2-3 business days, while some items ship within 7-10 or 10-14 business days.
Personalized items (such as monogrammed bags and aprons) ship in 7-10 business days in most cases.
Custom oilcloth bins and fabric bins as well as most of our upcycled, handmade clothing are handmade per order and typically ship in 2-3 weeks. Some handmade clothing is in stock and ships immediately,
Our line of galvanized tubs are hand-crafted per order and ship in 3-4 weeks.

Is it easy to apply and remove vinyl decals?
Yes, it is! You just need a steady hand and a little patience. When you purchase a vinyl decal, you will receive detailed instructions with your purchase on how to apply and remove your decals as well as a small practice decal. When you're ready to change the look, vinyl wall decals just peel off the wall or other surface.
Please do not apply vinyl wall decals to a newly-painted surface (allow at least 3 weeks after painting).
