I successfully moved all of my old Blogger blog posts to my new WordPress blog last night. It was like moving from one house to another. I was so worried something might get lost or broken (just like I worried about the set of my great-aunt’s handpainted china when we moved from Memphis back home to Dallas – I ended up taking it with us in our car instead of the moving truck!)
Thankfully, all but a few lone posts made it intact. Looking through the stragglers, I decided that this one was worth re-posting rather than deleting. (The comment is a reproduction of a comment left by a reader on the original blog post.)
Yeah, I have a ton of work to do. Yeah, I really need to sew, blog, update photos, list new items, email at least 20 people… But my 3-year-old just said, “Are you going swimming with us, Mommy?”
This is one of those moments when the idea of “balance” seems almost impossible to grasp. How do I love on my kids, support my husband, take care of myself and still have time to sew AND swim?
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=ecclesiastes%203&version=9;
The idea of seasons has been on my mind the past few days. For some reason, my kids have been completely obsessed with the Christmas “season” this week. Christmas in July 100% -complete with musings on the “Naughty List,” multiple viewings of “Polar Express” and even the singing of “Jingle Bells” by little voices. Pretty cute.
So if there’s a season for everything under Heaven, there must be a season for both swimming and sewing? But how do I know when it’s time to do one – or the other – or both at the same time? (Hopefully not both at the same time!)
Goodness knows as hard as I try to seek and strike balance every day, most days I mostly, or sometimes completely, miss.
So, I’ll continue to ask for help and try to enjoy the season that is today. And I’ll sew tomorrow…(or at least after bedtime!)
